16 Students Inducted into the 2009 Flint River Charter of the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS)

Flint River Technical College inducted 16 students in the Flint River Chapter of the National Technical Honor Society on Thursday, May 28, 2009.

To be nominated into the honor society, students must have taken at least 20 credit hours before their last enrolled quarter, and maintained a 3.5 grade point average throughout their program courses.

The criteria for nomination include those individuals with high character ideals which include: Good Attitude, Dependability, Leadership, Safety Consciousness, Initiative, Teamwork, Attendance/Punctuality, Pride in Work, and Good Citizenship.

The purpose of this organization shall be to promote the ideals of honesty, service, leadership, career development, and skilled workmanship among technical students in their pursuit of educational and career goals. Also to develop a great awareness within the American business, industry, and service communities of the talents and abilities of students engaged in technical education and to provide technical students with a greater awareness of the world of work.

The National Technical Honor Society is a nonprofit student organization of outstanding students enrolled in occupational, vocational, or technical programs. Organized in 1894, the first chapter was established at the H.B. Swofford Vocational Center in Gramling, South Carolina.  The organization has chapters in 35 states and was founded by Mr. C. Allen Powell and Mr. Jon Poteat .
