Flint River Technical College and the Thomaston-Upson Chamber of Commerce nominated Quad Graphics for the 2008 Medium Manufacturer of the Year and E7 Technologies for the 2008 Small Manufacturer of the Year.

The Manufacturer of the Year Award was developed by the Georgia Department of Technical and Adult Education and the Georgia Department of Economic Development (formerly the Georgia Department of Industry, Trade and Tourism).  Each company is judged on exhibiting a high degree of corporate responsibility, economic impact on Georgia, and workforce excellence.

A luncheon announcing the 2008 Manufacturer of the Year winners was held on Thursday, April 17, at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta. Keynote speaker Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle presented the awards. He was joined by Georgia Department of Economic Development Commissioner Ken Stewart and Ron Jackson, commissioner of the Georgia Department of Technical and Adult Education, at the luncheon marking the culmination of Manufacturing Appreciation Week. The event was co-hosted by the Georgia Department of Technical and Adult Education and the Georgia Department of Economic Development as an effort to recognize and pay tribute to manufacturing’s role in Georgia’s economy. The manufacturing sector employs more than 400,000 Georgians at nearly 10,000 facilities across the state, contributing more than $100 billion to its economy annually.
