In response to the need to provide a qualified workforce for business and industry, Flint River Technical College is participating in a State of Georgia initiative whereby our service area communities can validate their workforce and demonstrate that they have a qualified pool of jobseekers who are “work ready” through the Certified Work Ready Community program.

The program is two-fold and consists of both an individual earning of a Work Ready Certificate and a county becoming a Certified Work Ready Community.

We are helping our community to achieve the title of Certified Work Ready Communities of Excellence by encouraging various groups of citizens to achieve the Work Ready Certificate at the Bronze, Silver, Gold, or the Platinum level. When completed, the Work Ready effort will enable our surrounding counties to have a process to develop a documented workforce pipeline whose skills can be matched to occupation or job profiles and to demonstrate their commitment to improving the local high school graduation rate.

To support the Certified Work Ready program, Flint River Technical College will administer three Work Keys® assessments from American College Testing (ACT). These assessments document an individual’s foundational competencies in the area of Reading for Information, Locating Information, and Applied Mathematics.  In addition, computerized gap training will be provided FREE to those individuals desiring to improve their scores on the Work Keys® assessment. Furthermore, area business and industry meeting the required hiring requirements will also receive FREE job profiles.  From these results, area employers will be able to identify the essential core skills that are needed in their respective workplace and ensure that their applicants possess the skills necessary to be successful.

At Flint River Technical College, we subscribe to the belief that it is our primary mission to provide technical and adult education for the citizens in our serve area. Our College also provides support to our existing businesses and our communities as they seek to recruit new industry while ensuring a healthy economic growth that leads to improved quality of life.
