Flint River Technical College Taylor County Center in Butler was buzzing with excitement as the 2007 GED graduates, along with their family and friends, gathered for a pre-graduation reception on June 7, 2007.
There were 32 GED graduates from Taylor County. Following the reception, the GED ceremony was held in Thomaston at the Civic Center where Dr. Josephine Reed-Taylor, Assistant Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Technical and Adult Education, Office of Adult Literacy was the guest speaker. The following students participated in the graduation ceremony: Courtney Catrett, Kandy Channel, Tiffany Cribb, Edward Greene Jr., Jamie Howell, Justin Kendrick, Rhonda Kirby, Carol Kohl, Karren Owens Jr., Jessica Towery, John Wainwright Sr., Christopher Watkins, and Billy Whitley.
Western Pre-Release Center had its first GED ceremony and held a reception for the 29 GED graduates and their families on May 18, 2007. Flint River Technical College-Adult Literacy Program and Western Pre-Release Center have a great partnership in helping the inmates achieve their educational goals before being released.
Flint River Technical College would like to extend a special thanks to the Taylor County Certified Literate Community and Western Pre-Release Center for their contributions to make the receptions possible.
