Flint River Technical College held its Commencement Exercises for Degree, Diploma, and GED graduates on Thursday, June 7, 2007 at 7:00 pm at the Thomaston-Upson Civic Center.
Over 290 graduates were recognized for their achievements with the presentation of an official 2007 Flint River Technical College award.
The ceremony opened with a welcome and introduction by Mr. Robert Patrick, Chairperson for the Flint River Technical College Board of Directors. The National Anthem was sang Ms. Traci Snidemiller followed by the invocation given by Ms. Natasha Jackson, a graduate of the Cosmetology program. The Challenge was given by Ms. Suzette Pennamon, the 2007 Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership winner.
Dr. Josephine Reed-Taylor, Assistant Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Technical and Adult Education Office of Adult Literacy, was the 2007 Commencement Speaker. She praised each graduate for their accomplishment and wished them much success in the future.
The program concluded with a special tribute sang by Ms. Clair Haney, a graduate of the practical nursing program, closing remarks given by President Kathy S. Love, and the benediction presented by Ms. Britnie R. Smith, a GED graduate and 3000 Club Member.
