Apprentice Lineworker Training Program Looking for Students

A new program at Flint River Technical College to train electrical line workers is seeking students.

 

The Apprentice Lineworker’s program, which kicked off in May, is seeking to address a shortage of lineworkers in Upson and the surrounding counties.

The program is a collaborative effort between Flint River Technical College and Upson EMC.

The six-month program includes General Mathematics, Industrial Safety Procedures, Electricity Principles, Fundamental of Commercial Truck Driving, Basic Operations of Commercial Straight Truck and Passenger Driving, and Basic Lineman Occupational Skills for a total of 26 credit hours.

Typical salaries for an apprentice are $12 to $16 an hour. An average journeyman salary can reach $25 an hour or more.
