Flint River Technical College Department of Adult Education will administer the Pre-GED Test on Thursday, May 31, 2007 at 5:00pm. There is a $10.00 charge for all persons that are not enrolled in the Adult Education Program. The Pre-GED is a test that can accurately determine whether or not a person is ready to pass the official General Education Development Test (GED).
The GED is a nationally recognized standardized test that is generally regarded as the equivalent of a high school diploma. GED Testing scholarships are available from the Thomaston-Upson Rotary Club, Flint River Technical College Foundation, and the State of Georgia. Scholarship eligibility is determined by need and minimum Pre-GED scores. Persons in need of study prior to taking the GED are encouraged to enroll in the Adult Education Program. Persons interested in taking the Pre-GED should call (706) 646-6121 to register.
The fee for taking the entire battery of tests is $65; however, beginning in July 2007, the fee will increase to $95. This increase is due to local and state administrative costs and the recent increase in fees from the GED Testing Service in Washington D.C. In order to avoid paying the increased cost, interested persons are encouraged to register June 11-14 for the June 27 and 28 GED Test.
