Adult & Community ServicesFlint River Technical College Adult Education provides Adult Education classes to students ages 16 and over in Talbot, Taylor, and Upson counties. Instruction in reading, mathematics, and writing is available at no cost. This competency-based program allows students an opportunity to increase skills for self-satisfaction and job/educational advancement.
Instruction is delivered in group and individual formats, by comprehensive adult literacy software in our computer labs, and via the Internet with the GED Online option. GED Testing Services (General Educational Development Test) are available to individuals who demonstrate the attainment of developed abilities normally acquired through completion of a high school program of study. Currently, Flint River Technical College offers monthly GED testing at the Community Development Center in Thomaston and quarterly GED testing at the Taylor County Center in Butler.
In addition to programs designed to prepare students to take the GED test, Adult Education also offers classes in English as a Second Language (ESL) and English Language Civics.
